The death toll from the worst typhoon to hit Japan in decades has risen to 66 people.

Typhoon Hagibis swept through central and eastern Japan, leaving about 138,000 households without water and 24,000 people without electricity.

The hardest-hit region was was in the Fukushima prefecture north of Tokyo, a largely agricultural area.
