A set of autonomous drones were recently put into service for the first time in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region by State Grid to carry out power line inspection in the region.

With one click, the drone could fly along the pre-defined air route to complete the inspection automatically. Every one of the drones is equipped with a three-dimensional laser radar, visible lighter and infrared thermometer to take photos and thermal images in real-time for troubleshooting of electric wires facilities.

It allows for a transmission tower to be inspected within only five minutes, and electricity could remain switched on while the tower is inspected, which helps reduce cost and improve efficiency. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20190710/8115594.shtml#!language=1
