The Lima Group jointly slammed the election of Venezuela to the UN Human Rights Council during the meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers in Brasilia on Friday.
"The illegitimate and dictatorial Nicolas Maduro's government has been elected to the United Nations Humans Rights Council. This election, this unfortunate fact the must not be repeated," said Brazilian Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo.
Araujo had earlier received the bloc's delegates at headquarters of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Itamaraty Palace.
Venezuela was among the 14 countries which were elected to the Human Rights Council on Thursday.
Lima group was established on 8 August 2017 by a common declaration signed by 12 Latin American countries with the objective to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Venezuelan political crisis.
