Paine truck driver and Simpsons fanatic Ramón Sandoval is offering locals a unique way to fight the summer heat with his mobile swimming pool, as footage shot on Saturday shows.
Sandoval's 'pool mobile', which was inspired by an episode of The Simpsons, is 9 metres long, 2.5 metres wide, one metre deep, and carries some 17,000 litres of water.
"One day I was watching an episode of The Simpsons, where Otto (a character) arrives in his little truck and slams the brakes with a pool behind him and I thought it was really funny because all the water got inside the truck. Days went by and I thought it was funny, and then we saw it again with my son and I liked the idea and I said I'm going to do it," said Sandoval.
The pool was built in only 25 days, with Sandoval and technicians from the mechanical workshop he also runs reusing disused parts to create the vehicle.
Sandoval travels with his vehicle through low-income neighbourhoods in Santiago offering the service for free, giving children and adults a fun way to fight the heat.
