Chinese police have destroyed more than 100,000 illegal guns and large amounts of explosives in 154 cities across the country. These weapons were confiscated by police – or voluntarily handed over. The Ministry of Public Security launched a campaign last year to crack down on crimes related to guns and explosives. The Ministry said the number of such crimes between January and July this year dropped by 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
