Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was greeted by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the United Arab Emirates, Thursday, November 14, and announced a joint $20 billion investment platform for economic and social projects.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia have been the main backers of Sissi since he took power after the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi in 2013. Following the overthrow, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE promised Egypt $12 billion in loans, grants and fuel shipments.

Morsi was the leader of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood movement, which is listed as a terrorist organization in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. (AP / REUTERS)
