The first China-Pakistan joint energy project, the China Power Hub coal-fired power plant, started commercial operation on Monday, and the Pakistani prime minister attended the ceremony in support of the project.

The Hub coal-fired power station project is a pioneering project of CPEC, and it is also the first overseas thermal power project developed by China’s State Power Investment Corporation. As a part of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the project will use supercritical technology to reduce coal consumption, save costs and reduce emissions.

After being put into operation, the power station can supply nine billion kWh of electricity power per year, meeting the electricity demand of four million Pakistani households and promoting Pakistan's economic development.
