Dozens of Yellow Vests staged a protest in the famous upmarket Galeries Lafayette shopping centre in the heart of Paris on Sunday.

Footage shows groups of protesters taking to the third floor of the mall and chanting slogans from the balcony. Tensions broke out when security staff and police forces removed protesters and journalists from the building.

On Saturday, the Yellow Vests returned to the streets of the capital and other cities across France to mark the first anniversary of the movement.

The protests began on November 17, 2018, and were initially sparked by a fuel price rise, but quickly spread throughout France and evolved into a general expression of dissatisfaction with the status quo.
