If you're sautéing vegetables for heart-healthy reasons, olive oil may not be your best choice.

Mother Nature Network reports that while olive oil has many health benefits, it's not a good idea to fry or saute with it.

Olive oil's lower 'smoke point' means you'll be left with burnt, blackened, icky food!

Here's a hack: blanch the veggies first.

When you throw them in hot oil, some water from the blanching will still be on the vegetables.

That will increase the smoke point of the olive oil and solve the problem!
