Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidate Sebastian Wippel and Christian Democratic Union (CDU) candidate Octavian Ursu cast their ballots in the Mayoral elections in Gorlitz on Sunday.

"We demand that people here in Germany stick to our rules without any exceptions," said the AfD candidate resonating the far-right party’s radical stance on migrants.

In case of Wippel's victory, Gorlitz could become the first town in Germany to have a far-right AfD member as Mayor.

In the first round of votes in May, Wippel secured 36.6 percent of the votes, while Ursu came in second with 30.3 percent.
