German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, welcomed his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in the German capital on Wednesday, to discuss bilateral relations as well as international issues.

"I would like to thank Qatar again for its effort to support peace in Afghanistan and the contributions to this process," said Maas.

Al Thani, in turn, stressed that "Qatari-German relations are special in all spheres," adding: "We are very glad to have this strong partnership with a stable, sovereign and politically balanced country."

The Qatari foreign minister also praised the recent US -Taliban deal.

"The main goal of this deal is to reach a stable and continuous peace in Afghanistan and to establish the intra-Afghan talks," added.
