German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at Bellevue Palace in Berlin on Sunday.
Steinmeier greeted Macron outside the German president’s residence, where the French leader signed the guestbook.
Macron is in Berlin to join the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The visit comes a few days after Macron told a British magazine that NATO was facing a "brain death," referring to an apparent lack of coordination over Turkey's military operation in northern Syria. German Chancellor Angela Merkel publicly rejected Macron’s criticisms.
