German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed heads of state and government from seven African countries at his official residence Schloss Bellevue in Berlin on Monday ahead of the G20-Initiative 'Compact with Africa'.

President of the Republic of Togo Selom Komi Klassou, President of Burkina Faso Roch Marc Christian Kabore, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Guinean President Alpha Conde, President of the Cote d'Ivoire Alassane Ouattara, Ruandan President Paul Kagame, and President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo signed the guest book and posed for pictures before joining a dinner at the residence.

The 'Compact with Africa' initiative was launched under Germany's G20 presidency in 2017 to promote more co-operation and foreign direct investments into Africa. To date Egypt, Ethiopia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia are among the 12 participating countries.
