Bihar has seen an increase in number of COVID-19 cases. According to official figures, there are 39 confirmed cases in the state, but local doctors fear the numbers are much higher and that the pandemic is putting too much pressure on the healthcare system. Bihar has currently 0.11 hospital beds per 1,000 inhabitants.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the lockdown should last until midnight of April 15. The country so far has reported almost 6,000 coronavirus cases and 186 deaths, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
