People flooded the streets of Kolkata on Monday, demanding justice for rape victims.

People were seen holding banners reading "I condemn state-sponsored violence," "Raise boys to respect women" with some protesters seen addressing the crowds.

"Any punishment that should be given, should be given within the parameters of law, judiciary and court. We should not be allowed to let the government get outside their responsibility, arrogate their responsibility onto people so that this becomes a law of the jungles," said activist, Roshnaburi Chatterji.

27-year old veterinary doctor, Priyanka Reddy, was attacked in Hyderabad on November 26 and her burnt body was found the next day in Shadnagar. Several days later another victim died because of burns on her way to court, where she was supposed to attend a hearing on her alleged rape.
