Newly-signed Juventus' defender Matthijs de Ligt held his first news conference after joining the Italian club in Turin on Friday. De Ligt said an opportunity to play under coach Maurizio Sarri was one of the main reasons for him to move to Italy from Ajax.

"It's a really big step. It's the first step outside of my home country so obviously in the beginning it's something I have to get used to. But I was really honoured by how the Juventus fans welcomed me. I was really proud of that and I hope I can give them much back", said De Ligt.

The 19-year-old defender joined Juventus after the two clubs signed an $84 million dollars (75 million euros) deal.

"There are three competitions where we can play for, maybe four with the Super Cup, the Championship, the Coppa Italia, the Champions League and you will see at every game, we want to win everything I think, that's the most important thing, and every competition you play I think that a club like Juventus want to win it. It won't be different this year", said De Ligt.
