Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced his country's willingness to work with Lebanon's new government, as he met with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil on Monday during a two-day official visit to Beirut.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate and open up with the Lebanese government and with the Lebanese army, in any field that Lebanon considers useful," said Zarif, during a joint press with Bassil at the Foreign Ministry.

Referring to the continuing issue of US sanctions on Iran, Bassil commented that "Lebanon has no problem with any economic cooperation with Iran as long as this does not affect international resolutions and keep us always on the necessary international legal security side."
