German designer Kinga Mathe presented the most expensive dirndl ever made in Stuttgart on Tuesday.
"This dirndl costs around 42,600 euros (49,307 USD). The price is dependent on this chain, because it contains different materials, lots of gold, and many pearls and diamonds," Mathe said.
"It's really four-weeks of handiwork to achieve this beautiful pattern, of which is all pure silk. But the silk is not that exceptional, it's the work that goes into it which distinguishes it," she explained.
The dirndl is a traditional feminine dress worn in Austria, South Tyrol and Bavaria. The Kinga Mathe-designed dress comes with an 18-karat rose gold chain and is limited to just 10 pieces.
