**Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan have reached a preliminary agreement on how Ethiopia's Nile River dam project should proceed. The three sides hope to finalize the arrangement later this month.
**China and the United States signed phase one a trade deal aimed at ending the current rift between the economic giants. As part of the deal, China will buy at least $220 billion of U.S. goods. The U.S., in turn, will reduce tariffs on certain Chinese products.
**The Africa Cup of Nations will revert back to its traditional slot in January and February next year. Cameroon will host the event.
