Four-year-old America-born giant panda Bei Bei left Washington's National Zoo on Tuesday for his journey to China. All pandas born in the zoo must return to China after reaching age four, according to an agreement between the zoo and the China Wildlife Conservation Association. Since 1995, China and the United States have been working together on giant panda research, conservation, and breeding as part of "panda diplomacy."
