Thousands of people took part in a procession as part of the annual Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico City on Saturday. The festival sees participants painting their faces among other rituals to remember their dead relatives.
"It is a celebration when we can remember our ancestors in a beautiful and pleasant way," said student Alison Michel Andrade, one of participants.
The festival which is celebrated throughout Mexico and across the world dates back to the pre-Hispanic era. It is traditionally marked for three days between October 31 and November 2.
