At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un visited China January 7-10. The visit marks Kim’s first diplomatic activity of 2019 and also his fourth visit to China in less than one year. Speculations have arisen that his visit is aimed at coordinating strategies with China ahead of his possible second summit with U.S. President Donald Trump. Discussion guests are Professor Fan Jishe from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, and Dr. Ivan Eland, senior fellow and director of the Center on Peace & Liberty at the Independent Institute in Washington, DC.
