Researchers believe a novel protein could slow and prevent the spread of breast cancer.
Nischarin, is the name of the protein responsible for regulating breast cancer cell migration and movement.
Researcher at LSU are specifically using it to suppress tumor activity.
"This novel role for the tumor suppressor Nischarin not only increases our understanding of the exosome biology, but can be translated to identifying new targets for modulating cancer metastasis. Inhibition of the secretion of exosomes may serve as an effective treatment for cancer." Suresh Alahari, A researcher at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine
Researchers hope this is a breakthrough in breast cancer treatment.
