Russian-led airstrikes killed at least 18 people, Tuesday, January 21, in northwest Syria where a major government offensive to clear out rebels has sent tens of thousands fleeing to Turkey, as seen in footage provided by the volunteer White Helmets.

At least eight other civilians were killed in other strikes by Russian and Syrian government warplanes in opposition areas since the military campaign began in December.

Moscow and Damascus deny accusations of indiscriminate bombing of civilians, claiming they are strictly fighting jihadist militants who have stepped up attacks on civilians in Aleppo. (REUTERS)
