According to Deadspin, Simone Biles spoke out after a tweet sent out by USA Gymnastics' new interim CEO and president Mary Bono.

The Gold medalist gymnast fired back after Bono, a former Republican congresswoman from California, posted a photo of herself covering up the Nike swoosh on her sneakers. This came after Nike announced their ad campaign with Black rights activist Colin Kaepernick.

Bono wrote, "Unfortunately I had these shoes in my bag, luckily I had a marker in my bag too."

Biles, who is also a Nike backed athlete responded by saying "don’t worry, it’s not like we needed a smarter usa gymnastics president or any sponsors or anything."

A Deadspin writer calls Biles "...the most powerful person in American gymnastics," adding, "Almost anything she does or says makes headlines. She knows this."
