Worshippers in Aleppo reacted to the killing of the Iranian Quds Force General Qasem Soleimani by a US airstrike, on Friday.
A service was held in commemoration of the slain general in the Rashid Mosque, where attendees chanted "We will not be subjected to humiliation. Down with America. Down with Israel."
A resident of Aleppo said, "we demand the leadership of the resistance’s axis to have a hard and staggering response against the American and Israeli forces."
"The martyr [Soleimani] had a role in liberating most of the Syrian territories, and he also played a role in Iraq and Yemen. He was wherever he needed to be. The free and resistant world has lost one of its men today," stated another resident.
Soleimani was killed in an airstrike at Baghdad's international airport in the early hours of Friday morning, alongside Jamal Jafaar Mohammed Ali Ebrahimi, the leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi).
The Pentagon released a statement confirming the US had carried out the airstrike at the order of US President Donald Trump, calling it a "decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad." Iran's Minister of Defense Amir Hatami has said that "A crushing revenge will be taken for Soleimani's unjust assassination".
