Extinction Rebellion demonstrators gathered at Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park on Thursday to mark a pause in their London protests.

Climate protesters marched before choosing a spot on the grass to listen to musicians and join in group song at the so-called closing ceremony.

The environmental group said Thursday would be their last day of action in capital. The campaign of mass civil disobedience resulted in more than 1,100 arrests since protesters first blocked traffic on April 15.

Extinction Rebellion, also known as XR, was formed in 2018 and has three key demands: for the government to "tell the truth about climate change"; to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2025; and to create a citizen's assembly to oversee the progress.
