Londoners shared their thoughts after casting their ballots outside Princess Mary election poll in the north-eastern neighbourhood of Stoke Newington, on Thursday evening.
Many expressed optimism at their friends and community's increased engagement during the last electoral campaign.
"I think that the amount of people that signed up to vote is absolutely massive compared to the last election, which is really important," one voter said, as he was leaving the polling station.
Others speculated about the possible results with one saying, "It's a long night yes, it's going to be hard to sleep. I don't know because I still feel like, amongst my friends, amongst my community, I have a feeling that it's going to go Labour."
Polling stations in the UK closed at 22:00 GMT. According to the latest polls, the Conservative Party is set to win an overall majority with 86 on Thursday's general election.
