The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration says the Boeing 737 MAX will not be approved for flight by the end of this year, following two recent crashes. The FAA told a congressional hearing it's investigating production issues with the jet, and several steps still need to be completed, making approval unlikely until January at the earliest. Boeing says it could cut or even halt production of the jet, if the green light takes too long. The probes come after 737 MAX crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia, and allegations by a former manager of unsafe production practices at a key Boeing plant.
