Despite San Fransisco's shelter-in-place orders, locals were enjoying the warm sunshiny weather of Mother's Day weekend near Lake Merritt in Oakland on Sunday.

Locals sat on grass and vendors set up their stalls on sidewalks. Few wore face masks and while police were on-site, there were no indications any warnings were issued.

"I am concerned about COVID. We all are. So in the Bay Area, you have massive homelessness and I am determined not to join them out there so that's why I am here earning a living," said a street vendor.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf had earlier asked the locals to stay away from Lake Merritt for the weekend to help curb the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
