Ahead of their fight at UFC 246 on Saturday night, Irish MMA star Conor 'Notorious' McGregor and his upcoming opponent Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone talked to the press at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

"There will be blood spilled on January 18, [though] it will not be bad blood," said McGregor.

McGregor, one of the sport's biggest names, will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since October 2018 when he lost to Russia's Khabib Nurmagomedov following a fourth-round submission.

Five months after the loss, McGregor announced his official retirement from the sport but made a U-turn to take up Cowboy's offer of a welterweight clash.

Denver-born Cerrone is a strong underdog for the bout but is some 10cm (2.5in) taller than the Irishman and has fought in twice as many fights (50:25) so he will be hoping to make his size and experience count.

McGregor vs. Cowboy is set to take place at UFC 246 in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night (3am GMT Sunday) in front of a 20,000-strong crowd."
