US President Donald Trump announced that he wanted to lift the restrictive coronavirus measures sooner than it has been previously suggested. He was speaking at news conference in Washington DC on Monday.
"America will again and soon be open for business, very soon, a lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting, a lot sooner," said Trump.
He said it was necessary to reopen the economy faster due to 'tremendous repercussions.'
''There will be tremendous death from that, death, you know, you're talking about death, probably more death from that than anything that we're talking about with respect to the virus," said Trump.
Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci was notably absent from the news conference.
"He doesn't not agree. We had a long talk, but he understands there's a tremendous cost to our country. Both in terms of lives and in terms of economics," said Trump adding that Fauci was at the Task Force meeting at the moment.
