Thousands of supporters joined Venezuelan opposition leader and self-proclaimed acting president of Venezuela Juan Guaido as they marched through the streets of Caracas on Saturday, demanding the departure of President Nicolas Maduro.

Demonstrators converged from several areas of the capital and headed to the Bolivian embassy, where Guaido addressed the crowds. The opposition leader also announced he had spoke with interim Bolivian leader Jeanine Anez to recognise her as president of the Andean country.

Guaido has recently urged his supporters to return to the streets as new wave of protests are sweeping Latin America, and especially Bolivia, which has been plunged into a political crisis after the resignation of former president Evo Morales and his flight to Mexico.
